Touch ID and Apple Pay
Biometric feature is rumored to make it to the iPad Air after the release of iPhone 5S, but Apple failed to do so. This feature could be the reality with Touch ID to finally make its arrival in iPad Air 2.
The rumors can also be verified by looking deep inside the code present in iOS 8.1’s beta. This also indicated that Apple may also roll out Apple Pay to its iPad lineup.
Gold color may finally arrive on iPad Air2 adding to the list of other two colors currently available for the phone i.e. Space Gray and Silver. This can lead to the same color offering as that of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Ipad Air 2 might host a faster variant of the company’s A8 processor, the A8X, which is also rumored to power a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Ipad Air 2 may sport the 1.4 Ghz A8 processor similar to iPhone 6 but the speeds of its processing power are still unknown.
Memory and Storage
The device may sport 2 GB of RAM, from 1GB in the current model, according to the TechNews Taiwan. This news can not be confirmed and there can be deviation in the final offering of the product. The storage can be anything from 16GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
A purported replica of iPad Air 2’s casing shows recessed volume buttons which comes with redesigned larger speaker holes on both side of the lightning port. This news came along from the French tech blog NowhereElse. The rumored iPad is designated to have thinner body, when compared to the current iPad Air, which is only 7.5 mm thick.
The Display is less likely to be different from the previous version at 9.7 inches. This time around, Samsung may supply the screens to iPad Air 2, according to the DigiTimes.
The phone may also feature IPS display, an in-plane switching similar to what has been offered on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The resolution is speculated to remain the same at 2048 x 1536 pixels.
With an improved iPad Air 2 on the horizon featuring improved processor and larger memory there are strong speculations that it can potential to support split-screen multitasking.
The multi-screen support is backed up by the sources like iOS beta code as reported by Verge.
The prices seem to remain same but nothing can be said for sure. The iPad Air 2 might start at $499 for the 16GB WI-Fi model.
The release date of iPad Air 2 is expected to be announced sometime in October. Let’s see what apple stored for us.
